Definition: A group of private citizens providing
Real-time access for internet users to view various areas of the canal day or night.
While cams located on hills above canal may show water levels, cams located at lower levels will show any canal maintenance crews, any activity on or near canal by authorized or unauthorized personnel (this can include anyone from canal walkers to ATV activity), and by proximity or zoom with your cam, could show any canal wall invasion caused by critters or other sources.
This passive surveillance network can be useful for both sides. Residents, by accessing the cam network, can see for themselves in real-time the state of the canal. And, if any other problems arise, government agencies will have a digital record of the event for analysis. Wouldn't it have been nice to have a digital record at the time of the break in January?
None of us want this to happen again and it will take a joint effort to prevent it.
