July 31, 2008 SpaceWeather If you think you are seeing UFO's think again. Space Junk and Satellite flybys can cause amazing displays. The Early Ammonia Servicer (EAS) is a 1400-lb piece of space junk as large as a double-wide refrigerator. Astronauts onboard the ISS threw it overboard on July 23rd 2007. The EAS was installed in 2001 as an ammonia reservoir for the station's internal cooling system, but it was no longer needed after an improved cooling system was activated in 2006. So, astronauts pushed it overboard to make room for new construction. Other celestual displays will also be visable from the Fernley area. Check the SpaceWeather grid below for more.
