A very huge thank you and congratulations goes out to Norma Emerson for being selected as our July Volunteer of the month.
Norma and her family have lived in Fernley for 60 years. She moved here in 1948 and she graduated from Fernley High School.
Norma has volunteered here at the senior center for over a year and has volunteered here in Fernley for many years.
Her job duties at the senior center include making pop corn for bingo, making crafts throughout the year for our craft fair, and basically anything else that need to be done. Norma is a joyful and happy volunteer that helps out whenever and wherever she can.
Norma became a volunteer because she thought it would be fun to help people and then she found out you meet new people and have a great time.
I read in the menu at Black Bear diner that when her kids were younger she was even a volunteer back then. It seems she is a volunteer at heart!
Norma and her late husband Albert have two daughters, one son, seven grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Norma say’s,” if you are interested in becoming a volunteer, just come to the center and ask if there is anything you can do!”
Thank you Norma for your gracious attitude and you sunshine smile!
