July 2010 Volunteer of the Month

A very special congratulations to Jo-Anne McMullen, Ramos (Aka) Jo-Mama on being selected as our July 2010 volunteer of the month.
Jo-Anne moved to Fernley 9 years ago from Northern Ca. She has been a volunteer at the senior center for six years, and has been a volunteer as she states for most of her life. You might ask what does Jo-Anne do at the senior center? I would answer what doesn’t she do! She manages our soda machine which as we all know needs a lot of managing, she operates and cleans the ice cream machine each week, helps with bingo, poker, and attends each of Meet with the Manager meetings. In her spare time she is a volunteer driver for the center, and does just about anything else that may be asked of her.

Jo-Anne became a volunteer because she was interested in what was going on around here. Her favorite thing about volunteering is making things easier for others and putting a smile on a persons face.
Her family consists of her 87 year old mom, and her son and daughter.
Jo-Anne is a retired chef by profession both in a medical setting and on rail cars traveling all over the U.S. She would tell others to volunteer because of the joy you get by seeing the smiles and laughter each day. “Joy and Happiness is my life”
