Our beloved Diane Sterner has been chosen as April’s Volunteer of the Month. Diane has lived in Fernley since July of 2004. Prior to moving here she traveled in her motor home for 6 years.
Diane has been a volunteer here at the Fernley Senior Center for 3 years.
Her specific job duties include instruction in needle weaving and crochet. She is also one of summer children’s art class instructors. She crochets some of the most beautiful items!! Diane gives 2-3 hours of her time each week to the classes. She became a volunteer because of her love for the art and being able to teach others to enjoy it also. She is also one of our great joke tellers and we all look forward to the next laugh!!!
Her favorite thing about volunteering is the smiles she receives and being able to encourage other people’s accomplishments.
Diane lives with her husband, they have 3 son’s, 3 daughter- in laws, 9 Granddaughter’s, 1 great grand son and 1 great granddaughter.
Her former profession was as a receptionist.
Diane would tell others to volunteer because it makes one’s self feel good!
Thank you Diane for all you do and the patience you have when teaching your art.
