Fernley Senior Center News Brief

First of all I must start by saying sorry to Vivian DeSilva. As Vivian is not going to chemo therapy, but is having radiation treatments starting today. We love you and wish you well.

Our love Virginia McElroy had a wonderful surprise birthday on Saturday July 29th. Her friends from the Senior Center attended her 80th birthday hosted by her family who came from all over the states. They treated all of the seniors VIP’s because they were friends of their mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. The beginning of a happy 80th year!

The poker tourney is a wonderful success. Eight peopled played, and I believe that is just for starters as more people will probably join in. Larry Woodcock won this week. Poker is held every Thursday at 1:00 pm. Come in to watch or join in. David Kim Simpson will be happy to show you the ropes if you want.

Penny Bingo is also held at 12:45 pm on Thursdays. So it’s your choice.

Our next Pool Tourney will be on August 18th. So all of you pool fans get down here and have some fun! Lunch is served from 11:30- 12:30 and then pool starts at 1:00pm.

Today is August 9th and the Thrift Store is having it’s $2.00 a bag sale. The store is open from 11:00a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Lots of really nice things to buy.

On Mondays Levelle Castillo is holding the crafts class to start making things for the craft fair in November. So please come in and help make items for the craft fair. The hours are 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

For the month of August Don Fabishi will be taking people to Fallon for the Farmers Market. He will go on Tuesdays or Thursdays. There is a sign up at the Senior center, but space is very limited and it is reserved seating. Don thank you. We seniors really appreciate you taking us.

The Advisory Council meeting went well, and I am sure you are aware that elections for the Fernley Senior Center Advisory Council are coming up. Please be sure to come in and vote for your favorite person before September.
