The bake sale was a huge success. Thank you to all of you that participated, we raise a nice amount of money for our party fun, again thank you to all of you. 

The Farmers Market from Lattin Farms will be here on September 1st from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm in our parking lot. This is open to the public and is the only Farmers Market Produce available in Fernley at this time. Seniors may also still use their produce coupons this week. For more information please call Debby at 575-3370. 

We are accepting school supply and back pack donations here at The Fernley Senior Center at 1170 W. Newlands Dr. for our local schools. You may drop supplies off here and we will deliver to the area schools. If you have any questions you may contact Debby our site manger at 775-575-3370. 

From August 30, 2010 through Sept. 3, 2010, the Thrift Store we will be having a buy one get one free of equal or lesser value. Mark that on your calendars so you don’t forget, this is for Clothing ONLY. 

All Seniors that are 60 and over we want to let you know we sell Taxi Coupons at The Fernley Senior Center, please give Debbie 775-575-3370 a call and she will give you the details on the price, or if you want you can stop by and purchase them at 1170 W. Newlands Dr. 

We are looking for a SHIP volunteer in Fernley. This person will provide assistance to Seniors regarding Medicare and Social Security. The person who volunteers will be provided with extensive training. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity please call Debby at 575-3370 for further information. 

We will have a new RSVP Coordinator, her name is Maria Durand, her phone number is 775-575-0717, if you need medical transportation to and from the your doctors office call Maria and she will make the arrangements for you with one of their RSVP drivers. Please write this information down so you have it available to you when you need it.

We are looking for donations of wheelchairs and shower chairs. If you have any of these items around your home not being used please bring them to us. We loan them out to people and right now we do not have any to loan. Please call Debby at 575-3370 for more information.

We are looking for someone to take over lead for our Craft Classes. If you are interested please contact Debby at 775-575-3370 for more information. 

Reminders: 

Our next AARP Defensive Driving Class will be held on Friday Sept. 10, 2010 from 10 AM-4 PM, right now we have 2 spots open, if you would like to take this class please call Debby at 775-575-3370. 

There will be NO MONDAY BINGO on Labor Day which is Monday Sept. 6, 2010. And the center will be CLOSED. 

Our quilting class will be on summer break starting the first week of June. Please make a note of it and we will see you in September. 

Our writing class is every Thursday from 1-3 PM EXCEPT for the last Thursday of each month there is no writing class.. If you're interested please come down to the center and join in the class. A lot of people truly enjoy this class. All Seniors Welcome. 

Poker is on Wednesdays at 1:00 pm and Saturdays at 12:30 pm. All are welcome to come join the fun. 

We have Penny Bingo on Thursday at 1:00 PM, please come join , everyone has a lot of fun. All Seniors Welcome. 

We have pool tournaments each week on Tuesdays at 12:30 pm. this is a change so please make note of it. All seniors are Welcome. Come down and have some fun. 

To all of you that support the Thrift Store we would like to Thank You because of your continuous support it allows the Senior Center to continue making it a great place for seniors to come and socialize, again we thank you. We are a non-profit organization. The Thrift Store is in need of knick-knacks and clothing, if you happen to have these items laying around your house and would like to rid yourself of them, we would love to have them. The Thrift Store is open from 11-3 daily Mon-Fri. We will help you unload your items. We surely would appreciate this. Thank you so much in advance.
