"Louie’s China Bistro has become a convenient, comfortable place to both enjoy a meal, and put our heads together," relates Foundation President Melinda Bauer. "I can even order a meal to go for my husband," she confessed, adding "But, it’s all about getting together to help the community and plan the Fernley Foundation’s annual dinner and auction." Louie's China Bistro is also being thanked for its its recent contribution to Foundation's scholarship drive.
In fact the the Fernley Foundation Board and the Friends of the Foundation gathering, is (WAS HELD) in the Bistro’s private dining room at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 5. Residents who would simply like to act as “Friends of the Foundation” and pitch in, are invited to do so by contacting the organization.
The organization is laying the groundwork for this year’s "Over the Rainbow" themed event scheduled for Saturday, August 29 and currently refining the menu, decorations and seeking auction items. A "formal" ATTIRE or "Sunday best" evening, local non-profit organizations benefit from Foundation grants.
"We draw upon the artistic abilities and helping hands of the community" says Pam Doerr, both a board member and volunteer. "With our theme, borrowed the vintage film "Wizard of Oz", there are opportunities for creative minds to participate," she added. Drawing from the familiar words from "Over the Rainbow," sung by Judy Garland, the group is creating an evening of fantasy, fun and dining.
To be placed on the list of volunteers or for further information contact Mrs. Bauer at 575-6531 or Pam Doerr at 575-5526.
