Follow The Yellow Brick Road To Food And Fun In Fernley

The Fernley Foundation is staging its annual dinner and auction on Saturday evening, August 29. “We’re inviting our dinner guests to follow the fanciful yellow brick road through an amazing selection of auction items,” exclaims Foundation President Melinda Bauer.

Traditionally, the formal event includes both a silent and competitive auction, held throughout the evening. “One year,” reminisces Board member Pam Doerr, “the featured item was a classic automobile” The growing list of auction items includes western-themed, original watercolors from a private collector. For the high-end tailgate party, a set of 4 folding hardwood lounge chairs, upholstered in colonial-style tapestry, has also been gifted to the foundation.

An enthusiastic team of local volunteers includes Municipal Court Judge Daniel Bauer and Fernley’s first Mayor, the honorable David Stix. The dining fare begins with custom made appetizers from Louie’s China Bistro. At the end of the rainbow supper, a dessert course is being crafted by Culinary Academy of San Francisco graduate and John Ascuaga’s Nugget pastry chef Jessica Bauer.

Reservations are being taken by Patt Amussen for dinner tickets: individuals or couples at $50 a person and tables for 8 at $400 at 775-691-5854 or 775-423-7960. The location of the dinner will be the community hall of the Calvary Chapel of Fernley. The auction preview and beverage service beings at 6 p.m.; dinner served at 7.
