Cub Scout Pack 494 - Year in Review

Fernley NV - This past school year was very active for Cub Scout Pack 494. It was fun filled with activities and events for all ages. Cub Scout Pack 494 has taken part in various outings within their dens as well as participated in other outings and events as a pack.

In January the scouts participated in the annual Pinewood Derby. Each scout built their own pinewood derby car to the specifications they were given, and painted them for the race. The results of all of their hard work were cars of all shapes, sizes, and colors, as well as an afternoon of fun and excitement. The pinewood derby was an event for the whole family, complete with an "unlimited class" where siblings and parents could join in the fun of racing as well.

Pack 494 also enjoyed learning how to build rockets in March, and spent a Saturday in Out Of Town Park launching the rockets they made. This also meant that they spent part of their time chasing them after they were launched, so that they could launch them again. They boys helped each other in the task of rocket retrieval, and had a fun and memorable time doing so.

April brought about the pack's annual trip. This year the Cub Scouts traveled to Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo, California, to participate in Sharks in the Dark, where they stayed overnight in The Shark Experience attraction. All of the scouts who attended learned various facts about marine animals, played games, and even dissected a squid.

Cub Scout Pack 494 also participated in Scouting for Food, and The Fernley Christmas Parade. Soon they will be getting ready for the 4th of July Parade, Camp Fleischman, and their Rain Gutter Regatta, just to name a few. As you can see, the school year is coming to a close, but the fun is far from over! It is not too late to get involved!
