Reno, NV (May 11, 2009) The 5th Annual Black Rock Rendezvous takes place Memorial Day weekend, May 22 - 25, 2009 in Gerlach and points beyond, Nevada.
Come celebrate the spectacular Black Rock Desert - High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area with a leave-no-trace camping weekend of tours, education, workshops, cowboy poetry, live music, hikes, fire performances, rocket launches, Fly Geyser tours and more. The Black Rock Rendezvous inspires stewardship within the region, while providing insight to its rich history and modern day uses. The diversity of participating user groups makes the Black Rock Rendezvous unique in Nevada. It is also one of Nevada's largest outdoor education events.
Friday afternoon, enjoy cowboy poet Leon Flick at the Gerlach elementary school, followed by a camper welcome at Cassidy Mine, 12 miles north of Gerlach on the Playa.

Saturday, visit various user groups at the Rendezvous Expo at the Gerlach Community Center. Register for tours, then spend the afternoon exploring. Saturday evening, enjoy a chuckwagon dinner around the campfire with Cowboy Poet Leon Flick and Historian Chuck Dodd.
On Sunday, take one of a half dozen tours into the reaches of the National Conservation Area. See rock art, emigrant history, hot springs, rocket launches and more. That evening, it's time for potluck dinner, a dutch oven cookoff, and flame and fire performances by Controlled Burn, Tahoe Fire Dancers and Fireworks by Burning Man's Dave X. The evening continues to the sounds of Stoney Holiday, Drinking With Clowns and headliner and local favorites Frame of Mind. A giant raffle offers up terrific prizes including Ranch stays, fine art photographic prints, gear for the backcountry and two tickets to Burning Man. There's a free kids camp both days, too!
