I read with interest the periodic section regarding volunteers needed in Reno.
This week there was a choice of nine worthy organizations looking for help, including Washoe County schools needing reading and math tutors. This provides able-bodied seniors like myself a chance to give back to the community and provide a useful service at the same time. Congratulations to Reno organizations for recognizing the value of volunteerism.
My city of residence, though, is Fernley, and I have yet to see any ongoing call for volunteers in this area. I, and I am certain many others, would respond to a call for volunteers here. Let's hear from Lyon County schools or other worthy organizations in Fernley, for there is no greater way to build a sense of community than volunteering to help worthy causes.
