I am compelled to reply to the lunacy going on Fernley these days.

I realize there is extreme heat there climatically. Nonetheless I was taken aback by the spin control attempt by Peggy Gray, in not a very cogent fashion. Ensign has betrayed his family; his constituency, and country. Cindy Hampton thinks there are more important things are going on in Congress. She is quite right. But they do not necessarily require the attention of a reprobate (Ensign). He has long touted himself as a supporter of conservative "family values". What a crock!

His attempt to distance himself from President Clinton's "indiscretion" is totally ludicrous. In Indiana, adultery is adultery. The hypocrisy is staggering!

One of our nation's main problems is giving politicians and celebrities a "second"chance to redeem themselves; Michael Vick and S.C. Governor Mark Samford, etc. The average American does not usually get a second chance after such egregious conduct.

Maybe when the heat abates, some logic will return to Nevadans. Ensign should do the right thing and resign, not spending half his time trying to resurrect his image; kind of like another notorious Nevadan: O.J. Simpson. I hope Fernley News sees fit to run this in the paper.
