GREATER NEVADA CREDIT UNION DONATES $5,OOO

TO FERNLEY RELIEF FUND

CARSON CITY, Nv., January 15, 2008 --- Victims of the January 5th flooding in Fernley, Nevada, will soon benefit from a $5,000 donation that was extended today from Greater Nevada Credit Union to the Community Foundation of Western Nevada.  The Foundation is working side-by-side with the Lion County Human Resources Department who collectively determine the best use of monetary donations and in-kind services. “All of the money will be used locally”, said Chris Atkins, Executive Director for the Community Foundation. “Initially donations were allocated to food and shelter yet our needs change daily. Greater Nevada Credit Union’s significant donation will help us today, and in the future, to help us address new challenges that we expect will come our way.”   This assistance fund is available on a case-by-case situation.

“We are keenly aware of the many challenges that our neighbors in Fernley are facing on a daily basis,” said Wally Murray, President of Greater Nevada Credit Union. “We hope our donation today will help repair some misfortunes and ease the community back to normalcy.”

Greater Nevada Credit Union is a financial cooperative that has served Northern Nevada customers since 1949.  “Fernley residents in particular who may have financial concerns should not hesitate to call us at 775-882-2060 for assistance”, said Murray

The Fernley Assistance Fund is established by the Community Foundation of Western Nevada to aid victims of the Fernley Levee Breach.  Tax deductible contributions can be sent to the Community Foundation Office located at 1885 S. Arlington Avenue, Suite #103, Reno, Nevada, 89509 or donations can be accepted on line by visiting www.cfwnv.org.
