CITY OF FERNELY GRATEFUL

Fernley, NV – January 12, 2008

Through the efforts of Pioneer Crossing owner Mike Melarkey, he has been able to secure a donation of $20,000 from two Northern Nevada foundations for the relief efforts of the flood victims here in Fernley.

 "As a Fernley business partner and concerned citizen, I am pleased to be able to provide this modest help to the people of Fernley whose lives have been so terribly impacted by the recent flood. I believe that a community working together sticks together and creates a foundation of trust and support that lasts for many years to come. This is how great communities grow and thrive." said Melarkey. "We embrace this philosophy at Pioneer Crossing every day."

Since the canal breach here in Fernley, there has been an outpouring of love and support from so many people wanting to help. The City of Fernley appreciates everyone's thoughts prayers and generosity. As a result, a relief fund has been established to specifically help sustain the Fernley residents affected by the flood for the long recovery ahead.

The Fernley Assistance Fund is established by the Community Foundation to aid victims of the Fernley Canal Breach. Tax deductible contributions to the fund will be disbursed by Lyon County Human Services. Donations may be sent to the Community Foundation Office: 1885 S. Arlington Ave. #103 Reno, NV 89509. Please indicate Fernley Assistance Fund on your check. The Community Foundation will provide a written acknowledgement for all gifts to the fund.
