GOVERNOR APPOINTS THOMAS MAY TO HEALTHY NEVADA TASK FORCE

CARSON CITY Gov. Kenny Guinn has appointed Henderson resident Thomas J. May to the Healthy Nevada Task Force, effective immediately. May is the president of HCA Inc.’s Far West Division.
“Tom May brings almost 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry to this very important task force charged with distributing tobacco settlement funding to worthwhile organizations and groups who work to curtail alcohol abuse and smoking,” Gov. Guinn said. “I am very pleased that Tom has agreed to join the Healthy Nevada Task Force. His knowledge and expertise will certainly be a great benefit.”
May said, “I look forward to the opportunity to assist the members of the Healthy Nevada Task Force in making our state a better place in which to live, and greatly appreciate Governor Guinn’s confidence in selecting me as one of his appointees.”
The Fund for a Healthy Nevada was created in accordance with NRS 439.620 439.630 to utilize 50% of tobacco settlement monies received or recovered by the state of Nevada. The life expectancy for the fund is through the year 2025. The Healthy Nevada Task Force is the decision-making body for these funds.
The Healthy Nevada Task Force is comprised of three members appointed by the Governor, three by the Senate Majority Leader, and three by the Speaker of the Assembly.
