Flood Victim Helps Warm up CNN Crew

January 8, 2008

Typical of the Fernley attitude and lifestyle, Gordon Hodapp - a flood victim himself, opened his home and his kitchen at 3am to the CNN crew covering the Fernley flood.

Gordon supplied breakfast and hot coffee to the chilly crew that was walking in the frigid waters breaking through the ice that was frozen because of the 19 degree early morning temperature.

Gordon's home, located at the Jenny's Lane / Shadow Mountain Drive intersection, was sandbagged to prevent water from encroaching into his garage but had standing water that had seeped under his home from the flood.

The flooded neighborhood with flood waters reaching 6 ft in some areas never lost power. One house down the street with 2 feet of water in the house reported that computers and lights were still running even though water had covered the outlets.
