Electronic Evesdropping
January 5, 2006
Let me start by saying I am a conservative, so please don't lump me in with the Lib protesters.
And as such I have no qualms with the tapping of phones belonging to the parties here in the U.S. who have been in contact with suspected terrorists.
That said, I remember Edgar J. Hoover and HIS secret files. He reportedly had files on ANYONE who could possibly be of any interest to him. He didn't restrict it to national threats, he was a man gone mad with power, and paranoia.
Now I know that the president has said that it (phone tapping) is restricted to terrorist contacts.
But I haven't believed much of what the president has said since I voted for him and he started with the "compassionate conservatism" crap. Since then he has done everything he can to turn the Republican party into nothing better than the Democrats. And successfully at that.
Now there is no difference between the two political parties, and I'm a man without representation. And true Republicans are without a party.
Ergo, when the President CLAIMS that the tapping is limited to terrorist suspects I sincerely doubt it. I don't believe that an administration that has sneered at states rights (Terry Schaivo's Florida Supreme Court case; California's medical marijuana law; etc.) ignored our countries border security until the public sentiment made it clear that wholesale ouster from office was a definite possibility; and leader of a party which has a lot of it's members being hauled off to jail or under indictment would shirk from the possibility of getting the goods on everyday Americans.
Be it criminal activity or just embarrassing information, if it's there, I think most of the bozos we've elected couldn't resist.
And President Bush is the Head Bozo. So he, like J. Edgar Hoover, may already have files on us, and with a "information sharing" policy which enables him to disseminate the information gleaned to whatever agency would be interested.
Who cares about getting a warrant? He's the PRESIDENT.
