Back in the early days of our country, when our leaders had the brains that God gave them, our country was created with the premise that "all men are created equal" as it's maxim. Every guarantee of the constitution stemmed from this maxim.
And it was made known to one and all that in this country, there are no classes or royalty, only men who are blessed with freedom to do with their life what they pleased, as long as it didn't deny anyone else's rights to life, limb, and property legally gained.
And we had this as the backbone which supported our Republic. Our country.
So when we were founded the brilliant men who wrote the constitution did so with this as the basis from which all laws flowed.
Until slavery became an issue. Slaves had always been a part of every great civilization, and we were no different. And the people who dealt in slavery did so because there was a market for it. There was a market for slaves in our fields, planting, reaping, packaging and getting ready for transport all the crops that this great country produced. But we didn't have any. So what did the entrepreneurs do? They found a market which would sell slaves cheaply in Africa and other areas of the globe. They found Chinese who would work for peanuts in our mines, build our railroads and every other endeavor which required lots of laborers for cheap.
And the great march forward began in earnest.
Until the predictable outcry of the people who decried the practice. And the anti-slavery movement began in earnest. Culminating in the Civil War, which cost us over 700,000 lives and which also actually began as a State's Right's issue which our constitution supposedly protected.
At the end of that war slavery was banned and eventually the civil rights movement began. In the 1960's it really took off, with legislation, both Federal and State, requiring certain rights as well as remedies which the states had to comply.
And so there was school busing, affirmative action and every other thing those "enlightened" ones could think of to try to give equality to all.
The thing which no one paid any attention to was the fact that some people, be they black, brown, red, or white all had to actually LIVE here and that this was a COUNTRY. Supposedly a melting pot of all these cultures in which all people who lived in and enjoyed our country would live together.
But Birds of a Feather is a maxim also. And those who either clung to their "roots" or lifestyle, who refused to buy in to the constitution except where it came to helping them, would ALWAYS flock together.
They wouldn't mingle, mix, or otherwise even attempt to become an American, preferring to come together in an area where they felt accepted and secure.
And the ghettos grew.
A separation of the few from the majority, who, in this country, were white.
And those "elite intellectuals" who made the laws were flummoxed, scratching their heads, wondering why despite the laws the people would not equalize. They would not mingle together around the campfire singing songs about each other. Bummer.
And then came the death knell to not only immigration but to our country as intended by our Forefathers. The women's movement, the hyphenated names, the "black is beautiful" syndome, the growing movement to change names from Black, Mexican or whatever from Americans to their ethnic roots of Black-American to African-American to Mexican-American to Irish-American to "wherever your family came from" -American.
And it continues today.
So the only people you run into who claim to be an American are either white or in another country where that hyphenated crap doesn't mean anything.
And now we have the Mexican and Central/South American invasion. And we have those who want to take advantage of our country, who refuse to assimilate only because they aren't made to (as in enabling them by hiring them, making Spanish speaking teachers and English as a second language classes mandatory in a lot of our schools, etc) instead of forcing them to integrate into OUR society by not doing so. Being supported by the Liberals and the "elites" and by lobbying, passing laws, and our police hamstrung by political correctness forcing them to allow marches for the invaders etc, and we, the REAL Americans, sitting idly by while it happens.
Our immigration laws are a joke, our borders are a joke, and our President is a joke. And our country suffers and may not survive. The Muslim invasion has begun in earnest also, they practically own Michigan now, and the next stop is, well, wherever they want.
The left coast is Mexican, the center of this country is losing to Spanish speakers as well as Muslims, and we Americans sit by doing nothing. Just ask our beloved Senator, Harry Reid, whose Kerry-like change of opinion on immigration is nauseating. From Anti illegals to Pro illegals, that's our Harry!
So we have silent invasions (well, not silent so much as non-violent, yet) taking place from coutries around the world, mostly Central and South America, who refuse to assimilate, and the liberal elite keep touting their cry, BE PROUD OF YOUR HERITAGE!
No one vocalizes anything proud about American Heritage, or else they're branded a right wing neo-con by those who are talking out one side of their mouth preaching acceptance of everyone, unless it comes to a true American it seems. Then the other side of their mouth chips away at them by innuendo and slur.
Nothing makes sense to me anymore. I've lost all hope for our future as a country. And I'm not alone. I wish there were a New World for someone to discover, I'd shout "Where's the Boat?"
