Social Security goes broke saving Mexico

January 4, 2007

The latest fiasco in the drama playing out in Washington revolves around YOUR Social Security and illegal aliens.

The item I'm talking about is a little noticed thing called the Social Security Totalization Agreement with Mexico, which was worked out by the Bush administration with Mexico and now is waiting on his desk for his signature. There will be NO yea or nay vote necessary in Congress as it's not a bill. The only way for it to be killed is for congress to disapprove it in either the Senate or the House.

They'll have just 60 days to do so, or it's a done deal.
AND it seems that the Social Security Administration was refusing to allow those who were interested get any details on the agreement. It had to be forced to do so by a Freedom of Information request by a Senior Citizen's group (TREA) after three years of refusing.

The agreement goes thusly. A person from Mexico, whether legal or illegal, who has 18 quarters of work in this country, can collect Social Security benefits, if they paid into the Mexican Social Security equivalent, which is ridiculous for three reasons. One: only 40% of the Mexicans are in that program compared to our 96%; Two: in that program the recipients only get back what they put in plus interest, it's like a savings account for crying out loud and Three: the benefits here far outweigh any benefits they would have received in Mexico, due to that countries third world status and the miniscule amount they earn and pay into the system.

The illegals only have to put in SIX quarters into our system as opposed to the 40 required by actual citizens of this country. In other words, if an illegal here was working under a stolen social security card-holders number and as a result puts in money to the system, once legalization has been allowed, heck, he may be eligible right away!

Under the Totalization Agreement, millions of illegal Mexicans working in the United States today could claim benefits from the Social Security Trust Fund for work performed while in the United States illegally.

And if Amnesty is granted, then we're REALLY in trouble. If you think the invasion is going full speed now, wait for THIS to become widely known in Mexico.

President Bush has single handedly ruined a lot of industry in this nation by his trade agreements (esp. with China, India, etc); his entitlement programs are destined to put this country into the poor house; he's on some theocratic mission to save the world with our citizenry paying the bills; his boondoggle "no child left behind" program has actually destroyed the hopes of parents everywhere by using the Federal government to dictate the schooling requirements of the local schools on a "national basis" disregarding local students and conditions; has allowed the republican party to fall apart in a pile of greed while not vetoing a single spending bill, and is going to now be responsible for putting the Social Security fund on a faster track to bankruptcy than anyone thought possible.

I ask you, is there ANYTHING else he can destroy before he leaves office?  I would have thought not, but then I would have thought a Republican in the White House would be a grand idea.

I guess I'm an idiot too.

In an "unrelated" story I looked up a word today just to see what it said. At least I THINK it's unrelated, the readers can decide for themselves. Pay attention to the differences between treason and sedition:

Pronunciation [tree-zuh n]

1. the offense of acting to overthrow one's government or to harm or kill its sovereign.

–noun

2. a violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or to one's state.
3. the betrayal of a trust or confidence; breach of faith; treachery.

[Origin: 1175–1225; ME tre(i)so(u)n < AF; OF traïson < L tr*diti*n- (s. of tr*diti*) a handing over, betrayal. See tradition]

—Synonyms 1. Treason, sedition mean disloyalty or treachery to one's country or its government. Treason is any attempt to overthrow the government or impair the well-being of a state to which one owes allegiance.
