Dumbing Down our kids

February 23, 2007

People die. Bad things happen to not only good people but to everyone. People are maimed, get cancer, go bankrupt, go to jail, but most often people get offended.

   That's life.

However, in this country some people, those with influence over the law, television, and other spheres of influence, don't want our kids offended, don't want our kids to learn that other kids who will grow up with them may call them names, and don't want them to get hurt at all costs.

Even the cost of having those same kids grow up with no real knowledge of how the real world is.

So in our schools, there can be no name calling, no pushing, no little boys snatching a kiss from the girl of their dreams and running away giggling. No NOTHING.

They want our kids to learn about balancing a checkbook but not how to handle a fellow student's misplaced affection or dislike.

They want our kids to play in the playground with no chance of being hurt, so all the really fun stuff is taken down, leaving only a sterile environment for them to make so.

They don't want any of the kids offended so they dumb down the grades, with some schools even going so far as to eliminate all grades whatsoever.

They remove the Honor Roll from school in order to make the "less fortunate" (ie. lazy) kids not feel slighted by someone earning a good grade.

They want the kids to be so completely immune to outside influence that when they graduate they're completely unprepared for the employer who wants an employee to do a good job, and not stand around and BS all day, and are fired as a result.

They want the kids to have no clue that a good work ethic will get them more pay and promotions, instead go to the voters to get the minimum wage increased so the product of our schools will earn a little more for hardly working.

They want our kids to not work harder, but  to strive to get more benefits from the employers, like more "family leave" time so they can have more kids to shove into the same situation.

Yes, this country is going to hell in a handbasket.

I, of course, blame the Liberal mindset of those with influence, politicians who only want power and votes so they keep legislating more and more benefits for the losers, er, pardon me, "less fortunate" in our society, and the Teachers Unions who want nothing but more money and to hell with the kids.

I wonder what Communist China, or the late Soviet Union was like before they did the same thing. Everyone the same, no one earning more than anyone else, all incentive taken away, no promotions unless you're a government informer. It's a grim thought.

But if you look around at where we are heading as a country, with the government taking more and more power, with it almost a crime to make more than a loser, er, "less fortunate" one who tries to stiff you for a dollar or five at the entrance to Wal-Mart, well, as a country, psychologically, we're almost there.

Heaven help you if you offend anyone. Hell, you can't even tell anyone how you THINK these days without tempting fate.

And it all boils down to the intellectual "elite" who taught our teachers and our politicians in the 60's,  70's  and 80's. And now those teachers are teaching our kids what they learned, along with what they have dreamed up since.

And they aren't interested in actually teaching, they are interested in money, power, greed and tenure.

But try to introduce Home Schooling, aka competition, and God help ya, because the Teachers Union will be screaming all the way to Congress with all their influence to get it stopped.

After all, the schools of today aren't interested in grades, they might "offend" someone.
