Earth Day Comes to Fernley
04/11/07 Fernley News
On April 22nd Fernley's out of town park will host an Earth Day celebration. Earth Day was created in 1970 to spark a revolution against environmental abuse.
The first Earth Day led to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species acts.
The Fernley event will feature information booths from various non-profits and other groups as well as information on recycling, sustainable communities, "green living" and other earth-friendly and family friendly information. "I believe one of the greatest things we can do to defend ourselves is to make sure there is clean water, clean air and clean earth for each of us to breathe, drink, and live on.
This celebration will feature lots of information for kids and safety, there will be a Martial Arts demonstration, music and more!" John Mariotti continued, "I want to invite every Fernley resident to join us for community, and just the joy of being in the park on a beautiful spring afternoon."
If you would like to offer information, have a booth, or contribute in some way, please contact John Mariotti at 338-2412.
